South Haven Area

Highfield Beach is situated on the Eastern Shore of Lake Michigan between South Haven and Saugatuck. These beach towns are renowned for their scenic beauty and unique collection of shops, restaurants and art galleries. Here are just some of the highlights of each of these towns.

South Haven is the perfect harbor town – unique shops, choice restaurants, and magnificent beaches!

The harbor offers boat rentals and charter fishing and is walking distance to stores. There are dozens of golf courses within a 25-minute drive of South Haven, and hiking and biking are popular via the Kal-Haven Trail. This 33-mile long trail meanders through some of Van Buren County’s most scenic areas along a former railroad bed between South Haven and Kalamazoo. During winter months, popular outdoor activities include downhill and cross country-skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, and skating.

Saugatuck is the embodiment of small town, vintage America. Throughout its history, artists have been drawn to Saugatuck’s towering dunes, pristine beaches and jewel-like setting on Lake Michigan’s eastern shore. Today that artistic heritage continues through strong ties to the Art Institute of Chicago as well as through a broad spectrum of art galleries and art-based activities and events such as the annual Film Festival. The area is home to nearly two dozen eating establishments, some serving Greek, American, French, English and Italian specialties.
